Some fall activities

I uploaded the pictures for this post like 2 weeks ago and never posted them! I just needed to do a catch up post since I have been such a slacker.

I canned a ton of grapes from Mommy Jo's garden. I think we are going to try the grape juice today! The canning took a long time, especially making sure the grapes were clean.

We had a lot of fun swinging around with the twins.

My dad was in town for a BYU football game so we went out to Kneaders for breakfast with my brother and sister.

Former roommate picture at Leslie's wedding. She looked incredible! And the reception was a blast. Amazing food, amazing decorations, amazing music, and amazing Leslie. I am so happy for her!!!!

Utah is SO gorgeous in the fall. I know I will miss this season if we end up moving to Texas next year. It is my favorite.

Phil has been getting a lot of dental school interviews and I am so proud of him!

Red Rock Relay!

About a month ago our awesome team of 12 ran 187 miles from Brianhead to Zion National Park. It was exhausting. It was hard. It was SO FUN! Here are some van decorations.

Remember when I used to update my blog on a regular basis? I blame three things that have kept me from my blog 1) pinterest 2) school 3) the tv show friday night lights.

My last backpacking trip of the summer. Naturalists Basin.

I took a picture like this last year before we went backpacking in the Uintas so we decided to make it a tradition. I love the wilderness. In small doses. This was the last backpacking trip of the summer for the combination of Phil and Briana (Phil went on at least one more).

When we neared our campsite we saw fish jumping out of this river and we decided to try to catch them.

It is hard to tell from this picture, but this fish is huge. My hands just got in the way of it's massive body.

It is beautiful in the Uintas.

Cooking dinner as the same time as being dinner for the swarms of mosquitoes. You should have seen us eating dinner. The mosquitoes were so numerous and insane that we couldn't stand still and you had to make sure you weren't eating any when you took a bite of food. Delightful creatures.

After a rough night of sleep (the moon was full and incredibly bright) we decided to take a hike around Naturalists Basin. Every lake in the basin was named for a naturalist. This waterfall was so gorgeous.

another lake in the basin. What a beautiful part of the world. I am glad Phil is so adventurous. I probably say that a lot. But it is true. He shows me so many new places that I would never go to on my own. Hiking is his passion and I think that is awesome. I walk into the room where I expect to find him studying chemistry but I find him with a huge map on his lap. And I laugh but deep down I just find it so cute.

We were so exhausted on the way home (we hiked about 10 miles that day). We stopped for a little refueling...

crafternoon

Last week I made this dress from the same idea as this dress. I liked the first one better, but it was much easier to make the second time. In my opinion either the top or the bottom should have a stripe or some sort of design on it or it is boring (the bottom of the first one was made from a yellow and white striped knit). Guess I will just have to accessorize! I have some more knit fabrics to make another one... now I am just waiting for Plato's closet to have the perfect top for it!

And today I made this curtain. In how many seams you may ask?

One seam!
It all started when I bought this sheet from DI last year to use as scrap fabric.
Of course I gave it a thorough washing.
It was a straight sheet and the top was already folded over and sewed making a tunnel for the curtain rod to go through.
All I did was cut it to the length I wanted, pressed the bottom under 1/2 inch, and made a little seam.

I hope Phil likes it!

Hiking to Lake Blanche

So a few Fridays ago we realized that we both had the next day free and made a last minute decision to hike to Lake Blanche, located in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The hike was pretty grueling in the heat of late July and I was feeling sick when we got to the top, but the views were definitely worth every step. Pictured above are the wildflowers, which were the most beautiful we had seen all summer.

This is Phil. The mountain behind him is called sundial peak. So we thought it would be funny to have Phil check his watch with sundial peak behind him. Tee hee.

How incredible is this view?
