Houston part 2

One day while visiting the Rabes we took a day trip to Brenham, TX and toured the Blue Bell Factory. They wouldn't allow pictures during the tour, but it was awesome! It made me love Blue Bell even more.

That evening we walked to the park where this adorable picture happened:

The park is more fun when Daddy comes!

15 months

This photo sums up H at 15 months. He loves trucks and being outside. This week he has been climbing on everything in sight and going down slides by himself. He has also been cutting some teeth which has made him super clingy. That is, unless we are the park which is full of distractions. I am trying to enjoy the clingyness because I am sure it won't be too soon and he will be grown up. Something I hate thinking about.

Houston

Here are some highlights from our first day in H town

Houston zoo with these two

This is how the majority of pictures with Henry turn out

Kemah Boardwalk. Henry's first ocean sighting.

H could have watched this for hours.

Lockhart, TX

Just returned from a glorious Thanksgiving break. We spent our first weekend in Austin, which I will blog about later, and then drove to Houston. On the way to Houston we stopped in Lockhart- the BBQ capitol of TX.

The town courthouse

Our destination

Tummy begins to rumble

The meat and some sides

This my friends is a beef rib. We had a hard time prying it out of Henry's paws.

Lockhart did not disappoint.

Still here

Oh hey. We are still alive.
Guess I can't use having a newborn as an excuse not to blig anymore because henry is now 14 months old!
Look forward to more posts.

Being a mother is

Helping your baby learn and grow
but wanting them to stay little forever.

This little guy amazes me every single day.
I am so lucky.

To the tune of "my favorite things"

Smiling and eating and burping and pooping
Grunting and squirming and swinging and cooing
Black frames on white walls and bright ceiling fans
These are a few of my favorite things

When I'm tired
When I'm hungry
When my car seat makes me cry
I simply remember my favorite things
and then I don't feel
soooo bad (sorry that didn't rhyme)

Bed for Baby Hurst

I wanted Baby Hurst to have a wonderful place to sleep as a newborn
This bassinet has held many a precious baby, including Phil and his grandpa
I handmade everything pictured here (with the exception of the actual bassinet and the white blanket)
I just hope Baby will love it as much as I do!

There is just one thing missing from these pictures...
Please come see us soon Baby!
We are so very excited to meet you.

Our trip to Austin

We ventured to Austin for a weekend getaway in July
Our last trip before the baby
As you will see we ate a lot of delicious food
It was such a blast

Our first night in Austin we explore South Congress street
Lots of fun shopping!

Then we joined the throngs of people gathered to watch the bats
Billions of bats fly out of this bridge every day at sunset

It was difficult to capture the crazy amounts of bats in a picture
but you can see some of them here

Beautiful Austin sunset captured by Photographer Phil

We got a donut for dessert from this trailer
We highly recommend it!

behold the peach cream cheese donut!

The next day we got breakfast tacos at the Austin Farmers Market

Then we got lunch at La Barbeque
We waited in line for about an hour to get the food
It was 105 degrees and I wasn't feeling so great

But the food was certainly worth the wait!

We spent the afternoon at the Barton Springs Pool
Unfortunately we have no pictures of this event
It was so nice a relaxing
Definitely one of my favorite things we did this summer

We met up with our friends Cam and Crystal for a fun evening of dinner and catching up

This man entertained us during dinner

The next day we ate some more food!
Here I am with our tamales at another farmers market

Our drive home from Austin was painfully long
It took about 6 hours, when it should have only been 3
This was made bearable by our detour at Czech Stop, a very popular (hence the line in the above picture) bakery in West, TX.

Here are our Kolaches
Amazing
Especially the apricot and cream cheese one

That was our fun weekend in Austin!
